Making Retire Homes feel like Home

Greg JH
Greg Sieron

If you ever wondered how a retire home will be like for you or your loved ones; you’re in good hands at Jerome Home.

Greg Sieron is the Jerome Home Dining Director. Sieron is in charge making sure everything runs smoothly in the kitchen, dining room, and every resident needs are satisfied.

Jerome Home was Greg Sieron’s first job as a high school student. Sieron dreamed of becoming a police officer and pursed an associates in Criminal Justice at Tunxis Community College.

He chose not to pursue Crimainal Justice when he took advantages of the opportunities given to him at Jerome Home. He was able to turn his job into a career. Not only that but Sieron says “I love what I do. Never thought I would be doing it, but I get so much satisfaction out of it and have influenced so many lives that it’s just awesome.”

Sieron has been working for the company for close to 13 years now. In these 13 years of experience, he has actually did the job of the people he is managing and feels he has a big advantage to other people with his position.

In his experience there are always challenges no matter what. Finding solutions is a big part of the job.

Changes Sieron would like to make, is working on a “open dining program”, where residents can eat when they want similar to being at home. Some residents get up later than others and it wont be fair if they miss out on a meal or being served cold food because they were sleeping.

Sieron makes changes are made all the time but he feels in his position where he can actually make changes that can have a great influence on the residents lives.

Sieron’s most rewarding part of the job is getting satisfaction from residents and their families. Influencing people’s lives and making their last day’s worth while.

He feels he does so much more than just feeding the residents. They plan out trips to take them to various places and do different activities with them in the dining room. He does all of this to make this place really fell like home. Sieron says “We want to show that they don’t just live here, they have a life here!”

When he hears a resident say “Thank you, this was the best day of my life,” and give him a big hug that’s the biggest reward he can receive.

The Legendary JT Rainey

JT Rainey is the next new computer science mogul!

Jaiquan Tyrone Rainey

Mr. Rainey also know as Jaiquan Tyrone Rainey came to CCSU to Major in Computer Science and a Minor in Communication.

Rainey was a procrastinator in high school and didn’t know what he wanted to do at first. He never liked office work and always wanted to do something more progressive. He was going to major in manufacturing engineering but his love for computers changed his mind.

Rainey was glad he made the change to computer science.

Computer science can be broken down to many categories. He would like to focus more on software development.

He finds software development as an interesting and fun challenge. He has an interest for logic riddles and puzzles that he feels software development is similar too and it always keeps him engaged.

As a student, Rainey is very smart (and funny) with his grades being around a B average. His work ethic depends on the class subject material; Rainey says “It’s difficult to find motivation to do boring homework”. If the class is something he finds interesting, like his coding class, he finishes his homework weeks in advance.

Rainey’s goals are to graduate from CCSU with a bachelors then go off and do some work for a couple of years, to get experience and his foot in the door in his field. He eventually wants to go back to school to get his masters as well.

Software development also has many steps as well, that one can become an expert in.

He plans on opening his own business and become a coding consultant. As a consultant he would be an expert in coding and offer his services to others. He also plans on creating  his own software program for artificial intelligence and robotics.

Rainey wants his business to be very successful, similar to the Google headquarters. He wants to also invest in other businesses as well.

Rainey doesn’t want to limit himself to doing just one thing. He wants be able to use his knowledge for computer science to help others and advance our world with his capability’s.

Rainey’s future looks bright and promising. He might be the next Steve Jobs or Bill Gates.

He believes he can achieve all his dreams and he has a few words for all those dreamers out there just like him, “Nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t how hard you hit, it’s about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done”.

Other hobbies of Rainey’s are Muay Thai and video games. He is a newcomer to PC gaming and enjoys all genres of video games. Other than Muay Thai he enjoys Brazilian Ju Jitsu as well and watching MMA. Rainey has the brains and the bronze.

Rainey’s journey will be enough and he just wants people to know one final thing, “It’s a real code world”.
